Apply to Be a GreenSTAR Today!
Over the past several years, the MSCA STAR program has evolved and grown in response to market opportunities and changing times. In 2007, MSCA’s GreenSTAR Qualified Contractors Program was introduced in response to the demand for LEED certification, green and sustainability. With today’s focus on energy services and cost-saving strategies, the STAR program is once again positioned to respond. In 2012, the goal is for all current MSCA STARs to achieve GreenSTAR Qualification. To help you achieve this, the requirements for GreenSTAR have been revised and updated to better reflect today’s conditions.
Any company new to the STAR program will now be able to immediately apply for GreenSTAR qualification. Current GreenSTARs will be “grandfathered” into the new program and no action is required on their part. Through local, regional and national marketing efforts, MSCA’s GreenSTARs will now be recognized as THE “Energy Solutions Providers” of choice and the experts to call upon for all of a building’s energy service needs. MSCA is supporting this effort with ENERGY STAR webinars that can be viewed at any time online and -- coming-soon -- energy solutions customized report software.

By providing your customers with an objective assessment of their current energy usage, they will begin to see where their energy usage stands in comparison to similar use/size buildings and gain a better understanding of the potential for energy reduction and cost savings. Use of the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager is the simplest way to provide this service. It is widely accepted and recognized, free of charge, objective and available for a wide range of building types. To help you gain a better understanding of the capabilities and value of offering energy benchmarks through ENERGY STAR, MSCA recently offered a series of webinars and training sessions which can be viewed online. MSCA’s new customized software reporting program will allow you to present your customers, in a clear, concise, professional manner, results of the ENERGY STAR benchmark and recommendations for energy-saving measures. By simply presenting information on payback and return on investment, your customers will readily be able to understand how an initial investment in energy-efficient products/procedures/maintenance can result in long-term savings.
